Pride Is More Than a Month: We Provide Affirming Therapy That Shows Up All Year
At Turn the Mind, we believe affirming care isn’t about checking a box—it’s about showing up, listening deeply, and doing the work.
Too often, LGBTQIA+ people enter therapy hoping for relief but encounter silence, subtle judgment, or well-meaning therapists who just don’t get it. We’re here to do better.
Here’s what affirming therapy means to us:
You’re the expert on your identity. We won’t pathologize your gender, question your pronouns, or see queerness as a problem to solve.
Therapy is a place to explore, not perform. Whether you're questioning, navigating coming out, unpacking internalized shame, or healing from discrimination—there’s space for all of it here.
Transitions deserve support, not red tape. We write letters for gender-affirming medical care. No unnecessary hoops. No gatekeeping. Just honest collaboration rooted in respect.
Families need care too. We run a free, virtual support group for parents of trans and non-binary youth and adults. Because affirming families are lifesaving.
Our team is trained. We've completed specialized training in working with LGBTQIA+ clients and regularly seek consultation to grow our competence and challenge our blind spots. We don’t claim to know it all—we’re committed to learning and unlearning every day.
Pride isn’t just a flag in June. It’s how we practice.
If you’re looking for a therapy space where your full self is seen, respected, and supported—not just tolerated—we’re here. Whether you want to process trauma, build skills, find community, or just be heard, we’re ready to walk alongside you.
